The eLearning Calculator is a free, professional web tool that turns five practical questions into a clear development-time estimate. It draws on two validated benchmark sets (Chapman academic research and Tucker real-world practitioner data) and adjusts for the factors that actually drive effort. The result is a realistic range teams can use for scoping, quoting and stakeholder conversations from day one.

How people use it

• Answer five questions: content complexity, content readiness, multimedia needs, review cycles and SME availability.
• Toggle between Chapman and Tucker benchmark modes if desired.
• Instantly see a total hour estimate plus a visual breakdown across instructional design, multimedia, development, QA and admin tasks.
• Share the result with clients or colleagues via link, LinkedIn, email or other channels.
• Use the built-in contact form when a custom quote or more detailed discussion is needed.

The tool has achieved a perfect Ahrefs health score of 100/100 (October 2025), placing it in the top 1 % of technically sound websites. What the eLearning Calculator does not do

• It does not generate detailed work breakdown structures, Gantt charts or resource schedules.
• Estimates remain ranges; every project still needs professional judgement for unique constraints.
• It does not replace a discovery conversation when the brief is complex or highly custom.
