Living Light

LiveTraining & AdoptionShipped Product
Living Light biology investigation displayed on a landscape iPad, featuring a glowing marine organism and links to the question and quiz

Problem

Teachers and L&D buyers are often shown a deck, a wireframe, or a promise of what a lesson might become. That does not answer the first question: what is the standard of finish? A lesson that only exists as slides still needs the teacher to assemble the period. Capability is claimed. It is not on the page.

Solution

Living Light is a Year 9–12 biology investigation into bioluminescence, finished as a public microsite. It is a literature synthesis with citations, wrapped in a site a class can actually use: research question, hypothesis, published Monterey Bay data, the chemistry of cold light, six case-study lanterns, a scored quiz, and a 45-minute run sheet. A teacher can run a period from it. A student can present from it. No login. No worksheet to print.

How people use it

  1. Open the research question and hypothesis. The three figures on the page are the claim the rest of the site has to earn.
  2. Walk the luciferin reaction, then the Monterey Bay chart. The chart is the evidence, not decoration.
  3. Use the atlas as a set of decisions, not a gallery. Pick three lanterns: signalling, borrowed bacteria, GFP.
  4. Run the eight-question quiz. Score stays on the device if a teacher wants an exit ticket.
  5. Send the live URL. Nothing to print, nothing to log in to, nothing to install.

Status & outcomes

Live. Built by RETSA Group with Grok Build. Public at living-light.grok.me. A 45-minute period is already sequenced on the page. By the end, a class can explain cold light, name four jobs for a photon, and say what the 2017 Monterey Bay result does and does not prove.

Approach

Focused artefact, not an over-engineered platform. The point is the finish: longform, data, interaction and sources on one page, holding on a phone. Grok Build is how it was produced. Instructional design judgement is what it sequences, and what it refuses to fake.

What it does not do

  • Not a commercial curriculum product or a syllabus replacement
  • Not a pitch deck, and not a template waiting for different science
  • Does not replace a teacher, a wet lab, or a field trip
  • Images are documentary-style illustrations, not field photographs. Published figures belong to the papers cited on the site
